You're welcome! I'm glad I can help out. It would be great if I can help you solve your problem.
As for fasting, I understand why you want to try it. After reading around, I was really excited to do it myself. You hear all those motivational stories and you want to see what it does for you.
You said your metabolism has slowed down. Before fasting, mine had slowed down as well (hence the weight gain from binging after having lived on a starvation diet for about a year.)
Fasting slows your metabolism down even more Your digestive system will be put to a stop and you will reach a state of ketosis. This means your body will start using your reserves for fuel (your fat) and cleanse your body. This is why animals quit eating when they're sick.
This in itself sounds great, doesn't it? Fat loss, a slimmer body....
The problem begins when you have ended your fast and are supposed to ease back into eating again.
It might take several weeks before you are finally back into eating solid food. Until that time, you have to restrict yourself to fluids and things like watermelon. You have to be really careful about your intake.
Now, take in account the following: Lately you've been binging because of your restricted lifestyle. Your body has given you the finger and is dragging your mind along for a eating frenzy.
What do you think will happen when you've been on a fast and haven't eaten AT ALL for several days/weeks? It will be even worse. And the worst part is that if you slip and binge, it can actually harm your body. The benifits will be lost. I remember I could contain myself the first day after the fast (barely) but the next day I slipped. And after that I wasn't able to gain control again. It's like driving a car at high speed and the breaks have stopped working. The weight piled on real quick. So, there I was, 2 weeks later. I gained most of the weight back, I felt like shit and my metabolism was shot to hell.
If you think you can somehow muster the discipline to end it the right way, by all means try. But if you have only the slightest doubt, be prepared for a disaster.
I'm not purposely trying to scare you away from fasting. I'm just sharing my experiences and since we have a lot in common, I'd rather spare you the failure.
You're proud like me and a little voice in your head is probably saying "I can do this!" This is why you became anorexic in the first place. Instead of giving up, it became an obsession. I have no doubt you can easily sustain without food for days, maybe even weeks at a time. That's because after a few days, your appetite disappears entirely. This gives you a false impression that afterward, you will certainly be able to ease back into a healthier lifestyle.
The big problem is that your appetite, after breaking the fast, will be literally all consuming, even though during the fast you had no problem staying away from food. I really recommend looking into fasting only after you've gotten yourself under control and wish to do a cleanse to eliminate those last pounds and junk. Then you will have a much better chance of succeeding.
I'm sorry for my long messages, they must be boring. I just don't want you falling off a cliff like I did.
