Hello & Welcome, Bldeck:
I understand how distressing it can be to lose your hair. My thoughts on what you describe could possibly be one or two organisms that might be the cause. Come to think of it, you might be encountering a mixed co-infection; by this, I mean, fungal and mite problem. Although this is a guess on my part, it is possible. The reasons for me saying this is because the black strands/lint sound fungal but the granules sounds like possible mites. If you ever have had an opportunity to work with plants, sometimes mites (plant spider mites) will infest a plant with webbing material that is different from a spider.
Additionally, if you have a fungal/mold problem that is hidden, it might be a good idea to investigate the source and location. Most mites like bacteria but they will thrive in fungus too.
Please look at the 3 posts below.

You may find some value in the suggestions within those posts for topical application. Additionally, you might want to consider going to the Iodine Forum (there are 2, not sure which one) for direction on supplementation to help boost your immune system which can also be a contributor to help fight the problem from within. There have been testimonies of people whose hair has grown back. A good internal cleanse may be worth looking into too; Humaworm's Forum might be good to check out.
Best of luck. Please let me know what happens.
