I too just saw the message and I feel ashamed that we let such an important message slide. Forgive us all.

I too came from a very abusive marriage of 12 years and I was beaten quite badly. He had other women too but I stayed and stayed. Each time he promised to be better but the beatings only got worse.

I loved him and so wanted to believe he would get better. If I dared even think about bringing someone in to intervene, he would beat me more.

My mother convinced me I had to stay for the family. I brought police a couple of times but they told me he would only get free and hurt me more, which he did.

The only thing I had left to do was leave and divorce him. He went bolistic and beat me but finally I was free. I never felt so much relief in my life, it was a freedom I can't explain.

Why did he beat me? Because I let him. Stand up for your rights and if he refuses to change then seriously think of leaving. Don't waste your life as I did on a life that is more harmful. I did go on to have a better life but only after I got over the abuse.
