Thanks for that. In truth I am going places I have not been before so I don't really know my goal. I chose 59Kg (130 pounds) as the original target because it was exactly half my starting weight of 118Kg (260 pounds) and I am now 78 Kg (171 pounds).
When I was thin before I didn't have much muscle, so 130 may be too low for me now. Also that was 30 odd years ago, my body has changed a lot since then. So I think what I'll do is set 65Kg (143 pounds) as a rough target and see how I feel as I approach it, while continuing to take regular exercise and eat healthily.
I agree that BMI is unimportant, and of course as you correctly point out muscle is heavier. All I know is that right now I have a lot of fat to shift, I can pinch it off, and that all has to go.
So I think I will carry on with the current scheme as I am enjoying it, and worry about target weight when I see the fat has gone.
As regards percentage body fat, it was above 30% when I started (can't remember the exact figure) and now it's 23% which is the lowest I have seen. So I'll be paying more attention to that now as opposed to weight.
And yeah, I have a tall friend who has a high BMI even though he is thin.
Good luck with your program.
