When I first got Epstein Barr, my doc told me not to exercise as one bump on the spleen (usually swollen with Ebv) would send you to the hospital and most likely not make it so I find all the docs telling us to exercise when we need to be babying the spleen. There are many things we can do to help our spleen and by not putting additional pressure on it is sure a start.
