Hi hopeblossom; I have used Lugol for a year; thats the only Iodine I can get around here. If you read my post further down; one year on lugol; my experience, that may help you.
The Lugol has not clogged my thyroid; in fact it is now working very well; nails, temperature, energy ++ is close to the good old days. Remember the companion nutrients / supplements as selenium, magnesium, vitamin c and coconut oil (=instant energy+ a secret weight-looser)
And stop using fluoride in your toothpaste etc. if anything will clog your thyroid; this will!
I was also scared about starting iodine; started slow; now I use around 60 mg a day.
