I have a niece that has been suffering with thick sinus mucous drainage down the back of her throat. She is unable to lay down in bed because the mucous is so thick It almost chokes her. She also gets Bronchitis because of the thick drainage. When she wakes up in the morning she describes the mucous as feeling like a mudslide. The mucous runs 24 hous a day and she gets infections frequently. Sometimes she can't get the mucous down her throat and it acumulates right below her Adam's Apple and she can't get it out. This has been going on for over a year. She had sinus surgery about two years ago. She has also been to the Mayo Clinic.

At first she was diagnosed as having allergies .... fungus. Now a doctor says she has numerous sinus infections and he does not believe she has a fungus or allergy problem. She takes Singular and Allegra but it did not work for her. She was also on Flonase. She is doing sinus rinses with canning salt and pure baking soda. She does this six times a day when her sinus condition is at its worst. At present she is taking 1,000 mgs of Augmentin. If this does not help her within a months the doctor said she would take it for another month.

Her ENT doctor says there is only a handful of people who have it as bad as she does.

My niece has been told she needs to go to Texas where there is a facility that tests for 80 types of fungus....at $10,000 out of pocket, this seems like an extreme to me.

Does anyone out there have or has had a similar condition like this?

If so, thank you for your reply.
