I can see how this can happen. Peer pressure to conform. To be as "they" think you should be or act...

I would say one has to choose their own path - daily... Reaping the reward or pain there of...

Personally I would choose to be true to myself. Now I believe that that is the same as doing what I believe god would have me do... please do not think I am implying anything, simply a mindset...

This may cause you to loose relationships - if this is the case - was it a relationship which was hurting you? - for if it was a helping relationship - there would not have been the issue.

Gossip must be confronted immediately and directly. If you "think" someone is saying this or that - calmly confront then with what you feel. Confrontation can be scary and if one is unacustom to it. Will likely be very emotional. Believe me it is much better to just say to yourself - I have prayed about this - this is the advice I would give a brother or sister... I will do it with out anger. I will let my hurt feelings out. I will allow others to see my pain they have caused me... I will release and be free of it... We are human and I say your emotions are always correct - just sometimes we miscomunicate or misunderstand causing the emotions to flow. Communication it the key. BUT consider your emotional feeling to be your guide so to speak. Intuition is a powerful tool we all have. Intuition, emotion, and inagination...
These are components which I was well progeammed NOT TO EVER USE as a man... Think logical and stand on your own two feet is our way... men are taught.... now it seems that I am unlearning about everything that I was ever taught... ugh!
