The Chinese have a saying, "The doctor who treats himself has a fool for a patient."

Chinese medicine IS medicine, and should be prescribed by someone who is trained in it.  Herbal medicine isn't completely harmless, and you could do real damage to your system if you don't know what you're doing.  Contacting a school, or your state or province licensing board is a good idea.  At least you can be sure that who you are seeing is well trained and/or licensed to practice.
