Its a hoax like so many other things...
If you follow that old thread you get a PDF and within that the name of the test/lab to show that it is NOT toxic.

If you still don't believe you can go to the Swiss/German and French law sites and see what argument was used to overthrow the decades old law outlawing Absynth.
