Following Dr. Truss'es treatment for candida with iodine, I have just finished taking 6 drops of 5% Lugols 4 times a day for three weeks. I didn't start this program until I had read most of the posts under FAQ, plus many other articles on the internet.

I had already been taking large amounts of Vit.C., magnesium and 200 mcg of selenium for about 1/2 a year as part of my candida program.

During most of the three weeks, the candida symptoms worsened, and are still very much evident. I take this to indicate a Herxheimer reaction -- worsening of symptoms due to dead or dying microbes.

During the first week, I became very headachy, and remembered the salt protocol. That ended the headache within the hour, never to reoccur.

Dr. Truss'es instructions caution against taking this amount of Iodine for more than three weeks. I am taking a maintenance dose of 1 or 2 drops a day, and plan to do the tissue saturation again after a 3 month break.

Curiously, when I do a skin patch with tincture of iodine, the color is gone in 12 hours. After the saturation, I expected it to take almost 24 hours to be absorbed.

I had hoped to be able to report the end of candida overgrowth, but that is not the case yet. I'm hopeful I will see an end soon.
