Hi Ladies- all i can say is to get it out. I suffered for 3 years with pain. First it was neck/shoulder/jaw pain that caused me to take a miriad of drugs, including valium, and to try physical therapy and chiro. Over a three year period I saw 9 different doctors, representing 5 specialities. Durint this time, my primary doctor put me on cymbalta, since my pain was mystery "muscle" pain and not based on a diagnosis of any kind (had xrays and mri). For some reason it made a dent in the pain in my neck but the pain in my jaw remained and became more intense. For over a year I was miserable from constant jaw pain. Yes, I too assumed it was tension - from working full time while trying to raise our children. But ladies, life doesn't have to be like this. I was given a mouth guard at night. That didn't do a thing. I even had my jaw wired shut this past november to see if the muscle spasms in my jaw would subside. It was during that time that my husband suggested the question that maybe my misery was related to my Mirena iud. A light bulb went off. I had it removed three days later and my jaw pain is 99% gone. No other time in my life had I had such distinct, unexplainable pain. I thought something was wrong with me. I hope that our stories reach other woman. If you are experiencing back, neck or jaw pain and have mirena, you should have it removed.
