Oh, no wonder - I do not have any kind of base at all and the electical plug or cord which I have has only one application to be plugged in - in other words there are the 2 prongs on one end that go into the wall (electrical socket) and the other end has one open metal tip that slips into the opening in the white dome.

I never had a base - everything was together as I received them.
