I do make my own soap. I use Jason shampoo because I haven't found a good shampoo recipe. It is laurel/laureth free. I use evoo or evco for my babies' oil and for myself, no synthetic lotions. This makes for fabulous skin, by the way. Add essential oils if you want scent or more healing properties. The only other pretty easy thing to do is get house plants. I have a book called "How to grow clean air". It covers common household solvents and what plants filter them from the air. Palms and peacelilies are some of the best plants.
