Now let me tell you about my own particular psychosis. For some reason it drives me crazy that so many people misspell the word "lose." It is always misspelled as "loose."

Lose is a verb, with the letter "s" pronounced like the letter "z." Eg. Don't lose your glasses.

Loose is an adjective, with the letter "s" pronounced with the "s" sound. Eg. Drinking too much alcohol can give you a loose tongue. It can also be a verb, as in, to let loose. In every case loose has an "s" sound and not a "z" sound.

But one does not loose weight. One can lose weight.
