FRUITARIAN EATING & Emotions

It’s important not to overeat on sweet fruits when we feel unhappy and need the emotional lift that sugar can bring. Many humans eat mostly for emotional reasons, to fill up a sense of inner emptiness, and to cover up emotional pain with something comforting, like the soothing feeling that some food can bring. And sweet and creamy fruits make us feel good inside, so we may overeat.
To become healthier, we need to observe our emotions relative to food, and learn how to do the right inner work which will allow us to feel comfortable with our emotions. We need to learn to feel love in our tummies on our own, rather than using food for that. We also need to learn to satisfy only true hunger--that's not always easy, but it’s necessary to work on it.
Fruitarian eating is the lightest of all diets and gives us our "lightest" body, and we become most sensitive on fruit. Emotional armoring melts away as the body becomes pure on fruit, and that can be unsettling and make life more challenging on such an energizing diet.
Some people feel “ungrounded” on fruit. In regard to that, learning how to live with conscious awareness via yoga, meditation and the "somatic inquiry" helps us develop emotional balance and mental composure. “Grounding” ourselves with heavier foods really just makes us duller, and less conscious, healthy and alive.
Modern living is very challenging, especially if we live in a metropolitan area and have to work 9 to 5. It takes courage to “lighten up” and face our emotions. I like to encourage fruit lovers to follow their senses and go for it, and, if needed, get the right dietary counseling to ensure success. I have mentored many "fruitarians" and love to help. May you enjoy your fruit in equanimity and abundant health!
