Hi Robert...Sorry no one has responded to your post. I'm usually on here quite
a bit...but we've had problems with my elderly mother-in-law...and I just haven't
hardly been on here at all the last couple of weeks or so. But ANYWAY...I don't
even have much time right now...but just bopped in to see what was going on. If
you have time...read some of my responses to other posters below. Anything posted
by kathryn101...I've put a lot of information in many of the posts you'll find on
this particular forum.

I remember Nils...a poster back in early January, I believe...asking about calorie
counting and juicing..and I had never really thought about it..my husband & I just
don't take in enough calories that we'd have to worry about it and no one had ever
asked before...but anyway, I just typed in "carrot juice + calories" that day...
and did a search and the information popped right up. So it would be fairly easy
to find the calorie count in almost any juice, I'd think. I think it was 94 calories in one cup of carrot juice...seems like.

There are suggestions for different juices in posts below. Or you can just type in different
things..like "juicing + health benefits"...or "juicing + arthritis" or anything
similar to that and it will take you to a gazillion places to read good info on
juicing.

My favorite juicing books, are by N W Walker....he's one of the old guys...but
his info is priceless and so easy to understand. Just a few of his books are:
"Fresh Vegetable and Fruit Juices"
"The Natural Way To Vibrant Health"
"Diet And Salad"
These books are all worth their weight in gold...if you're interested in getting
healthy or 'healthier'...and living to a ripe old age. And even though a couple
of them sound like mostly recipes, etc...they're not....they are all just full
of good information on the best juices, etc for every organ in the body. You
should be able to buy them at a good health food store for about $8 each...or find them on ebay for almost pennies.

On the pulp...we eat a lot of salads...and I toss in a handful or so of the pulp.
But the rest, I just throw away.

You do know, I hope...not to mix fruits with veggies...except for apple. You can
mix apple with anything.

Our favorite is:
4 or 5 carrots
big handful of spinach
few sprigs parsley
1 apple
I sometimes add to that...beets and or a leaf or two (never more than 1/4 beet in
your juice)...celery is good for giving a calming effect and regulating your blood
pressure...so I like to add that...cucumber is good for great skin and a diuretic...so many times I add that...but you're getting a lot of good nutrients
if you'll just do the above simple mixture...and add what you can...when you can...
as time permits.

Just a couple of weeks ago...someone posted that they HATED juicing and didn't know how we do it...they posted their juice recipe and it was something like...garlic...onion...radish...kumquat :-)....I don't remember...but it was
ridiculous stuff...it's a wonder they weren't throwing up their socks. juicing is
so good and so good for you...and it is soooooooooo very simple. People say they
would LIKE to do it...but they can't AFFORD all those fruits and veggies...but
they don't understand...that when you go to the grocery...you LEAVE THE OREOS on the shelf and take fresh veggies home. :-) You switch bad foods for good foods...and you're so much better for it. And it doesn't mean you can't have a
few Oreos and a glass of milk while watching American Idol once in a while...but that needs to be a treat...not the norm.

I tell people all the time...we need to stop living to eat and learn to eat to live.
There is so much more to life than a 'Twinkie'...at least in my life...thank the good Lord!

Good luck with your juicing...sorry I was so long. kathryn
