I think of a resolution as something definite.
So if you fail to accomplish what you resolve to accomplish, then you tend to consider it a failure and maybe yourself a failure, at least in a small way.
If you don't make a resolution then there is no chance for these kinds of failure to happen.
If you set something as a goal to reach toward then there is no chance of failure, because whatever progress you made toward that goal is an accomplishment.

Anybody have any new goals they would like to strive towards in this new year?
