Hiya Daisy, he has a few small issues by the sounds of it that are creating the big picture. If his Crohn's disease is isolated to the terminal ileum (sometimes it can work it's way into the stomach and esophagus)...then I'd start with the stomach ulcers...the reason I say this is because it was discovered many years ago that stomach ulcers are caused by a bacteria called "H.Pylori", this is an Antibiotic treatable bacteria. The doctors can detect this in one of two ways:
1. nasty camera down the throat
2. drink a liquid, then have the patient breathe into an apparatus that detects the liquids reaction with the stomachs contents.
with the 2nd method being the most tolerated. His weight issue is because his small intestine is not absorbing fats properly (probably the infection at the terminal ileum part of the small intestine, which is responsible for absorbing fats, vitamin B complex and iron). This is also why he feels weak, and a prolonged hot shower will make him black out (watch out for the faucet to the head...ouch!).
Once he has dealt with the ulcers in the stomach, then it's time to deal with the crohn's disease itself...he will need to start taking probiotics (recommend Vita-Vim travel probiotic w.mutlivitamin mixed in with it...pills look funny). Take 2 twice a day to start (purchase 2 boxes initially).
Once you have gotten him through the treatment for the ulcers done and they're gone (tested by the doctor). And you have found a local supplier for the Travel Vita-Vim, then contact me back, and I will post here the rest of the treatment instructions for Crohn's Disease. Please site what city and state/province you live in as well so that I can help you in finding supplies.
