Understand that the nitrogen fixing in soy and the potential for levels of nitrogen as NPN in soy are the dangers here... too much, too fast that messes with the mineral\element metabolism.
Fermentation seems to ameliorate this somewhat. Add GMO's and we are in trouble big time...
Here is a little clue for you about ruminant animals that handle NPN MUCH better than humans...
Never, EVER, feed raw whole soybeans and urea together. Soybeans contain the enzyme urease which breaks urea down into ammonia. The combination can be DEADLY. Livestock owners know to avoid feeding other NPN sources and soybeans together. This includes soybean stubble and ANY NPN sources that may be offered or fed jointly.
With the NPN and nitrogen issues today, THIS becomes a bigger problem as NPN and nitrogen issues increase...
EDIT: with melamine and other NPN's in infant formulas it makes us want to go out and purchase soybean based formulas for our babies... NOT.
Dang, I get frustrated spelling it out to\for seemingly intelligent people.
The problem is linear thinking and putting everything in separate boxes... no-can-do.
End Edit
BTW - nitrogen issues are the bigger culprit in global climate change too.
Figure it out... you seem to know everything... or so you espouse.
