at least with amalgams, one can have those removed. The materialistic mindset is much more difficult to remove - its basically irreversible in 99% of those it grabs. I typically give gifts at other times, like, when I think about giving. That way I don't have to wait for a holiday and neither does the recipient. Besides, I might not live that long. I could be dead tomorrow, this evening or in 15 minutes. Why wait for the winter solstice or any other holidays to unleash appropriate giving ?
