#@$#%^&$&*@*^%$#@$%^!!!
Lunchtime sing-along to a great record or two; windows open, so passers-by may stop and hear/sing...daily.
The words, and maybe the music, on song sheets, just in case someone wants to learn to read music.
Song sheets for holiday sing-alongs were all over the place a few decades ago. What do you want to bet some publisher/newspaper has them in a dusty old file somewhere?! Or, write them out by hand, in class.
I know, I know...school is already closed for the season.
So, who will be playing holiday music on the radio, at what time? And which songs? Do they want listeners? Will the DJ's work with you?
What is the music teacher up to these days? ...And the librarian? ...The school secretary?
Who among everyone who has anything to do with the school lives in the neighborhood? Who among those has a front lawn? ...And can make a pot of hot chocolate, from scratch?
And, can you paint the windowsills/benches afterward? Maybe a couple of months later? And plan colors? Vote? Design suggestions in poster form, up where they can be seen by everyone? ...Where everyone gets a personalized letter of praise, just for submitting a poster...
It's not just the dreariness of the same old, same old, at home...it's the LACK of anything new and creative, the absence of imagination and hope.
These young folks will never be at this point in their lives again. There is something individual and unique within each of them.
At one bank I worked in, there was a 'junior', a trainee, with a bright idea. As he went about the branch doing his morning tasks, he hummed a song under his breath.
Though it was inaudible, by 3 p.m. when the bank closed to the public, everyone on staff was humming it, too! After a while we all noticed where the day's song was coming from.
One day the song was, 'Happy Birthday to me'.
I don't remember the young fellow's name, but I'll never forget the technique!
A little Sparque CAN make a difference. Imagine if all the teachers were humming the SAME golden oldie each day! (Do they have early morning coffee together, before they begin the day? It only takes one to start, under their breath.)
I keep coming back to that DJ. That relationship, with a little excellent timing, could do a powerful lot of good.
My affection, dear Sparque.
Fledgling
