I read an article on infowars.com and clicked on a banner ad for efoodsdirect.com. They offer kits of dried, storable food that is supposed to feed one adult for a year. There are a couple of kits that contain "meat" in the form of TVP and a non-soy kit with extra beans, rice, and sprouting seeds. When you purchase a kit, this company offers a deep discount on a Berkley water filter system. With the cans of food come plastic lids and a cookbook on cooking with stored food.

It looks like food for an adult for a year runs about $1500- $1600 plus shipping. It does not include food the company says we should expect to buy in our local areas.

As with Angel Food Ministries, some of this food isn't the healthiest (i.e., strawberry jello). However, in difficult times, a bowl of strawberry jello might just put a smile on someone's face.

This company suggests ordering enough storable food for your situation to last 3-5 years. Clearly, the owners do not believe we are getting out of this mess any time soon.

I appreciate the list of foods to store. Being the ever resourceful housewife, I can now comparison shop at Sam's (Costco), WalMart, and HEB to see if I can do better. When there's a will, there's a way. :-)
