I'll bet it is the calcium hydroxide in the 'drink' killing the parasites. I'll see if I can find you a definition of this thing [no promises]. I might try out this system myself [caution: calcium hydroxide is caustic chemical] Shroom

I found it. Should have known, but I drew a blank. This organism is most likely a schistosome, I posted a pic
