I don't think this positive thinking thing works for people that are chronically ill. I have definitely tried the positive way, and it didn't do much for me. Positive thinking does work only during the time that I feel well, as in healthy. I can still have fears at that time, but not as many, and soooooo much easier to use positive thoughts to combat them. But so far, the well feeling doesn't stay long, so any hard things I could do during the well feeling, I won't be able to handle during the poor times, which is more of a majority, unfortunately.
Also, if having too positive a feeling, it can be crushed the next day, with ill health. So it can just make you feel that much worse. Kind of like winning the lottery, and then told the next day that they made a mistake.
This line: "So the lesson is that no matter what comes to you in life, there is some benefit." I think if the benefit....(if there is one), is like a needle in the haystack, then it is pretty much useless, if the cons far outweigh the pro. There are many examples of this in the world, and doubt if many would choose that on a continued basis.
And the line saying that god will never give you more than you can handle is not true, or there wouldn't be suicide in the world.
So I try to use realism to get through my life, with continued hope for the future. I do agree that we should put ourselves around good people. Definitly try to do that.
