So true to my experience.

I think a lot of people feel that since they are taxed so much, and since we have so many social programs, that it really is the government's job, thus relieving them of any compulsion to give or get involved. They already "gave", and it's certain people's actual JOBS to help the needy. Conservatives still give but probably less than they would, since the government is taxing them and covering part of the work.
