I would say that you are probably right in your view.
However, this probably would not avoid any conflicts that have arisen by way of misleading posts that are corrected, or attempted to be corrected, by anyone........members or mod's alike.
I would have posted to counter the original post anyway, and where if this led to debate I would probably have been banned myself for doing so.!!!!
I also think that being a member/moderator is a lose/lose situation anyway.

I'll sit on it for a couple of days or so.
