The only things cut and pasted in my reply are those parts that are in quotes, and they were added to amplify my thoughts. The rest are my own thoughts.
Talk about missing the point: You totally ignore the fact that the author of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson, had a totally different conception of god from yours. He did not accept the divinity of Jesus. He was not a Christian. He did not believe that the Ten Commandments were the basis of morality. His concept of the "creator" was so different form yours that he might as well be a buddhist and you a born-again christian (which is what I presume you are). All of this is clear from the quotations which I posted. If you prefer to ignore these truths, that's your problem. I can't help you with your willful ignorance.
And, again, whatever the Declaration says, it is not the law of the land. Yes, it is a manifesto, but it is not the document which determines our laws. The U.S. Constitution is the law of the land. There is no mention of God, Jesus, the Ten Commandments, or any of your religious dogma anywhere in the Constitution. Therefore, the ruling document of our nation is free of any religious dogma, including your Christian mythology, as Jefferson and the other founders had hoped.
So, please feel free to believe whatever nonsense you choose to believe in. That's your right, as an American. But please don't presume to tell me what America is founded on, or what the ideals of America are. I am an American, and as far as I am concerned, this country's founding had nothing to do with Christian dogma or mythology. I am free to reject the tenets of all religions, including yours. If you would prefer to live in a theocracy, I suggest that you may want to live in Saudi Arabia, or Iran, where the leaders of the government and the leaders of the predominant religion are one and the same.
