When I was 18 I lived with 4 women who were Mormon and it was such an uplifting experience. They were very religious and very fun people. I learned alot of course from them. I married and moved away but never forgot the experience.

Yes, I accept this part of our religion but not something I cared for. My husband never married other than me, cause I am really great. Hahhah. Yes, there are many religions that advocate multiple wives. Why you ask? Maybe the wife is sick as in cancer and cannot take care of the family. To help the wife take care of household chores and yes the inevitable answer, it is fun.

I find that most of the men in Jordan who marry more than one wife end up in divorce, because they never realized the responsibility involved. It is a lot of work with multiple wives and the fun usually turns into horror. It does work in some cases I am sure, like you Julie but many homes struggle with this. What does Islam say, you have to treat each wife exactly the same. IE> a piece of bread for one, means a piece of bread for the other. A gold bracelet for one, a gold bracelet for the other. This is extremely difficult to do and usually is swayed upon.

Besides being humiliating for the first wife, it is difficult for the second wife. The first wife feels like the whole world is laughing at her and the second wife is hated by everyone. So it is a big part of our religion but an average of one percent actually do this. Number one it is very expensive, number two it is known to cause divorce in many circles.

I know of many a doctor who lost his practice over deciding to take a new wife, as the community loved the first wife.

Saving all of that, I believe that it is a good way as my prophet stated so. It has pros and cons, but I never question God's decision ever.
