It would help you a lot to read as much as you can about fasting, not to be afraid of it. If you are like most people, chances are you heard many lies about fasting. In order to do this for a long time it is better to understand and learn all we can about the subject. Knowledge gives us confidence and fortitude. It sounds you really need to fast for your life.
