We have also done this with our children. We actually take them into the booth with us so that they don't feel intimidated when they turn 18.

We discuss the process. Discuss the issues. Of course they ask us why we are voting like we are, sometimes much to our dismay as they are fairly noisy and can be heard in other voting booths. As they have gotten older, they realize they have to be quiet until we get back into the car. I've gotten a lot of stink eye from other voters as we've left the voting area.
