anyajb12,
I agree with the majority of your post but we have to draw a distinction here between fasting for health and fasting as an eating disorder, which has a psychiatric origin.
This forum is for those who wish to lose weight via water-fasting in a healthy manner and/or gain the health benefits that accrue because of it, (EDIT) AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, as a means of achieving good health via valid lifestyle changes THEREAFTER, which includes a healthy & properly combined diet, adequate full body sun exposure, fresh air, plentiful rest & sleep, exercise, emotional poise, and which are elements of a lifestyle based on Natural Law and expounded by Natural Hygiene. This then (as I see it)is the main aim of this forum for all members.
This is not a forum for those suffering from Anorexia Nervosa (as distinct from Anorexia which is a term used to describe loss of appetite) or even Bulimia and where both have their origins within the mind as a psychological/psychiatric disorder. This is also not a forum for promoting binge eating on pizzas and such after fasting for a few days, and which of course is decidedly unhealthy and damaging to the body.
IF or Intermittent Fasting has been shown to be a healthy lifestyle choice for those who are not mentally disturbed, and where I would totally disagree with anyone fasting for with the above conditions. These people really need professional help as to the causes of their ED's.
I would also take issue with you re' fasting as a cause of ED's which is complete nonsense; which comes first.....the chicken or the egg? In this case, sufferers from Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia have fasted because of their mental state and not the other way around as you have suggested, otherwise I (and thousands upon thousands of others) would have been diagnosed with an ED a long time ago, and probably been committed to an institution for our practices.
ED's are one thing, but fasting thru choice as in weightloss and health benefits is an entirely different concept altogether.
Regards
Chrisb1.
