My own Mother suffered a myocardial infarction 4 years ago and where I wrote to her mainstream cardiologist concerning complementing her then "treatment" by adding such nutrients as fish oils, magnesium and CoQ10 at the appropriate therapeutic dosages; he wrote back to me asking what I meant by CoQ10!!
A predictable & ignorant response perhaps but she came out of his care on my advice and stopped taking the 80mg per day statins she was prescribed.
She is now leading a normal life at the age of 86: BP normal, whereas very high previously and with far more energy.
The mind boggles.
