I agree it's not the oil.
People who go on the Atkins diet almost always have lowered cholesterol levels. (My husbands went down over 200 points over a 9 month period.) Dr. Atkins is a heart surgeon and developed the diet(based on ancient ignored research, much like Dr. Clark) to help his heart patients. Finding out that it also caused people to lose weight and helped with other health problems was just icing on the cake. It's a low carbohydrate high protien diet. Especially at the start. Most of the protien is from meat, though I think I read there was a vegetarian version of it. The reason your cholosterol may be up is if you increased your bread, fruit and veggies yet didn't lower your saturated fat intake to practically nothing. When the two(sugars and bad fat) are combined they make the sticky kind of cholesterol that blocks the arteries. Whatever you changed in your diet may have accidentally sabatogued you.
I know this goes against the whole low fat live style that is primarily promoted by the world today. Check out Dr. Atkins book The new Diet Revolution from the library and once you have read it you will at least have both sides of the story. If you follow his diet strictly you should have much lower levels within a couple of months. We tried the low fat all natural diet here for many years and my husbands cholosterol just went up up up.
Also I hear good things about that book that teaches people to eat from thier blood type. But I haven't ever heard anything about it lowering cholosterol.
Take care,
Lisa
