So far as we know anti biotics have never served as a permanant treatment for this condition. They may alliviate the condition for a while and in my case nearly eradicate it once, but usually once you stop an anti-biotic it will return. In my case the bacteria have built up a resistence to all anti-biotics and they don't respond to anything. The thing that seems to work is the men shaving their heads in this group. I'm a woman so that is not an option for me, but I have lived with this condition over 30 years so I have just gotten used to it to some degree. I thought for over 20 years I just had pimples on my head and finally a smart hairdresser told me I should see a dermatologist. He knew it was folliculitis right away. I had a biopsy but couldn't tell you what bacteria caused it only that it no longer responds to anti-biotic treatment. Do all you can to fight this while you can, but you may be in for a long ride so be prepared. I wish you well and hope your doctor will look at other treatment options that may open up in the future. If your condition does respond to the anti-biotics DO NOT stop taking them untill there is absolutely NONE left on your head and then continue to take them for a while after that. I stopped when I only had one pimp left. That lasted all of two months and I didn't start the anti-biotics again till it was to late and they had become to resistant.
