I have stockpiled and am stockpiling. I would like to say that what I have stockpiled is nothing but healthy super nutritious food, but I opted for survival first with the idea of adding more healthy items as time goes by. So, initially that means quite the pile of inexpensive commercial canned goods as well as tradtitional dried goods such as beans, grains, pasta, etc.(hellooo Dollar General and Sams). I even have a couple of cases of Ramen Noodles (gasp).
That may not be the healthiest plan, at least in the beginning, but the initial name of the game here is survival and I already have a couple of months supplies for two stockpiled at a couple of different locations - and access to water and the ability to hunt and forage a bit at both. Now it is a matter of adding in more healthy food and all the other survivalist supplies such as herbs and supplements, gizmos and implements and such - and preparing a couple of backpacks worth of worst case scenario head to the woods materials.
I think the lesson from Y2K was to opt for items with much longer storage life and rotate them into your meals as time goes by, replacing the older items to keep a couple of months or more of supplies on hand.
