I had my mirena in for 5 months. I had a yeast infection practically every month and just felt nasty all of the time. Not to be too graphic but itchy, smelly, etc. I had my mirena removed due to many of the side effects talked about on this website. I felt like my body was fighting it all of the time. I have been without Mirena for 3 1/2 weeks. I have been on a bit of an emotional roller coaster but many of my other side effects have subsided. I have lost 11 pounds and am no longer bloated. My aches and pains have subsided along with many other side effects experienced and thankfully no more yeast infections, etc. I believe the yeast infections and high bacteria content were all caused by mirena but that is just my opinion. So thankful to have it removed.
