More specifically, the parable of the prodigal son is about the son RETURNING home because the son had faith/trust that the father was a good, loving father (loving kind like the creator). You said simply "come home", but the son came BACK home (returned) after being just (learning the error of His way) instead of becoming bitter and a vagabond.

But it's also that the prodigal son apologized to his father (with a repentant heart and mind) and admitted that while he had of course sinned against heaven/rightness (realistically, "heaven" will suffer no damage, "heaven" cannot be a 'victim'), it was the dad who suffered harm (was victimized) when the inheritance was destroyed/squandered (recognition of the victim). The dad reacted the same as our creator does when we are sincere and repentant in heart AND mind (Romans 12:2). We can only be truly "transformed" by the renewal of our MIND (attitude/character change).

The tree eaten of in the Garden of Eden was the tree of the knowledge of GOOD and EVIL, not the tree of the knowledge of RIGHT and WRONG or the tree of morality. The reason that is an important distinction is that right/wrong is part of humanity's CODE of morality, but the creator wants us to also know GOOD/EVIL (because the knowledge of "good/evil" teaches us PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE (a peaceful and just spirit,...which is, of course, having a spirit of "holiness"). In other words, peace and harmony are LOGICAL. Since evil prevents peace and harmony, EVIL is ILLOGICAL.

After reading the introductory doctrine of Jesus (the bible, Hebrews 6:1), we should spiritually MATURE and be fed "solid food" ("depths of God", 1 Corinthians 2:10) and learn to understand the knowledge of good/evil.

Hebrews 5:14
"But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their faculties trained by practice to distinguish good from evil".

This is called a "more excellent" devotion (1 Corin. 12:31) so that our devotion can be based on "the GREATEST of these" (1 Corin. 13:13). Our faith should be borne out of love.

Christianity has always misunderstood (and mistaught) exactly what God desires of us, He wants us to understand (and live) "peaceful coexistence", not partisan (GROUP, BRAND NAME) elitism.

Christianity should not be known as a FAITH. True Godliness is a "FAITH FOR faith" (Romans 1:17). This point is better illustrated/explained Hebrews 11:6 (2 kinds of faith)...

Hebrews 11:6
"...For whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists AND/also that he rewards those who seek him".

We should...
1) have faith THAT God exists.,...AND

2) have faith IN/trust His loving kindness (He "REWARDS" those who will "draw near"/love Him).

The creator put the parable of the prodigal son in scriipture so that we would be able to better understand what a truly LOVING relationship is (God is LOVE), but all through out history, mankind has chosen to see COMMANDS/COMMANDMENTS (which were abolished, Ephesians 2:15, James 1:25, 2:12) instead of seeing the creator's wise counsel/good advice and CAUTIONS (not "warnings"/ultimatums/threats).

The "works" that we should do are to simply TRUST that the creator did everything that was necessary for us to return to Him in the NEW heaven (the present one should be in us). God's "works" should be "MADE MANIFEST" IN us (John 6:28, 9:3) and we should simply REST in The Lord being confident that we have ALREADY been completely justified (Romans 5:9).
