i dont think there was ANYTHING special about jesus. well, no more so than any of us:

John 14:12
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

a true believer can say anything that jesus said verbatim and be telling the truth.

the other side of the coin is that i do not think the technologies we see in so-called miracles in the bible - naaman dipping in the jordan to cure leprosy, trumpets bringing down jericho, even the mans eyes with mud on them - are much more than technologies. IOW, i believe that everything can be "explained away". if not, proof of god would be at hand and faith would no longer be necessary, free will would be subjugated. i dont recall right now whether it was jesus' baptism or crucifixion, but i remember that god actually spoke but some said it was just thunder. that mechanism is very much in play today. to me, gods existence is irrefutable. my proofs are internal, my very own possessions. everyone must get their own, or not, and that too is a choice. it is obviously a VALID choice because god does not interfere with it and neither should we.
