Hey peacemakers,
Life can be stressful. That's the way it is in our fallen state. We've got to be at work by 8AM for a big meeting with the boss, and we're stuck behind a long train. The baby was up sick all night ane we didn't get any sleep, and today our mother-in-law needs to be picked up at the airport across town. We need to take the car in, take the dog to the groomer's, pick up Hubby's shirts from the cleaners, and run the kids to piano and soccer practice. The washer and dryer both broke down so we have to go to the laundrymat, but we have to stop at the bank before the lobby closes so we can get several rolls of quarters, because the grocery store stopped giving them out. The senior needs help with his college admissions essay TONIGHT because he's been putting it off all semester and the dealine's tomorrow. The sophomore needs a ride to band practice because Suzie's mom just had a baby and can't drive yet. The eighth grader just burst into tears because she's got an Algebra test tomorrow and she just doesn't understand it. And of course, Hubby calls to say he'll be late again tonight so don't wait up.
Now add to this a conversation with a doctor saying he's going to have to cut your breasts or testicles off, poison you with chemicals strong enough to make your hair fall out, and even then you've got maybe six months to live. Or you get passed around from doctor to doctor who look at your weak body and say "You've got SOMETHIN'," like mine did. You get poked and prodded and shocked and needled and cut open to dig pieces of meat out of you. Eighteen months later someone finally says, "Oh! They didn't tell you?" You're one of Jerry's kids. Your muscles are progressively getting weaker and weaker. You're not going to die from this, but I'd be looking at long term disability insurance pretty hard. You're going to need it. Wish I had better news. Oh- there's no cure for this, ya know. We can put you on narcotics for the pain, if you like, and we can try steroids, but so far, they don't work very well and they cause other problems from long term use. Have a nice day."
May I please suggest, as Dr. Schulze did, that neuromuscular diseases stem from major, major stress and emotional trauma in the life of these people. I seriously think we need the medical community tostart asking us some questions about our lifestyles.
We've GOT to slow down and heal, people. I'm talking to myself, too. We've got to CALM DOWN.
I'll be talking about getting toxic stressors out of our lives- like TV, rock music (I know, I just put some up, and I think there is a time and place for it, but we have to do it with AWARENESS and I may pull it out completely later on), the phone ringing off the wall (or purses), too full social calendars, heavy traffic, etc. I'll be talking about demanding spouses and family members, and the guilt we put on ourselves when we say "no" to our churches. I may talk about slamming doors and negative people and loud crowds at football games.
But right now I just want to tell you about a nerve sedative tincture I got from Southern Botanicals. I've got a LOT going on right now as I try to destress and cut back on commitments so I can do the Incurables Program in peace. This tincture has valerian root, lobelia, and some other herbs known to help the nervous system CALM DOWN. I'm using it to help me get to sleep at night. You can use it during the day, too, if you feel yourself getting stressed out. Sweet people, we won't get well if we're wound up tighter than a watch. Stress is what got us in this mess. lol Stress = mess. So order some nerve sedative tincture and start taking it. You can take a dropper or two four times a day if you like. You can take up to four droppers at once at any one time if you need it. Don't be afraid to take it, and don't feel guilty for needing it. We're getting well here. We have to CALM DOWN first.
Be still, my soul. Be still.
Peace,
Donna
