I have had great results with using zinc oxide on my melasma (area above upper lip). It prevents further discoloration and seems to be facilitating the fading of it. They make a formula that goes on relatively clear and is greaseless, so it's not like I have a white moustache now. I use it everyday just like i would makeup or moisturizer, plus it's a sunscreen to protect my skin. I had previously tried spf 50 sunscreens, but they didn't help much at all.
