I have been hypoglycemic for 22 years. And over the years I have found ( for me personnally, can differ with other possibly ) I eat 3 small to moderate meals a day, mostly consisting of non starchy vegetables ( green ones ) a large portion of protein ( chicken breast, beef patty, fish, etc ) and a very small portion of fruit or starch ( half small potato or 2 tablespoons of wild rice or a few whole grain crackers ) and I like to have either 4 ounces of tomato juice or milk or herb tea.
Than I have a small snack between meals and at bedtime, consiting of a complex carb and protein ( 1.2 cup cottage cheese and some whole grain crackers or the crackers with peanut butter or better yet a hand full of almonds. My favorite is 1.2 cup of plain, unsweetened yogurt with two tablespoons of unsweetened applesauce on top of that and sprinkle sunflower seeds over it. Or have a half dozen hard boiled eggs in your refrigerator to have on hand or a quick snack and have tomato slices or half piece of fresh fruit with 2 eggs. Tuna salad on whole grain crackers is good too. When you are feeling better, you can get more creative with your entrees.
