Was the FUS due to stones and/or a urinary mucus plug?

Diet can help prevent reoccurances, but a PU should definatly be considered as this has been a past problem for your cat. The surgery will permanently eliminate the urethral stricture contributing to the blockage. Even with diet improvements, he will be likely to have more return trips to the vet to address continuing episodes of FUS.

It seems radical, but he won't miss his peener :)
