I have heard that Iodine acts as a chelating agent (I have heard mostly just for bromine?) and I was wondering if it also chelates out mercury. I know some people say to remove Amalgams before doing Iodine therapy, so it makes me think this is in fact the case. I am wondering since my son has several characteristics of autism after much therapy in his early years and I think this may help him. I know there are other methods of chelation for mercury, and I am going to be researching those as well. I had a flu shot while I was pregnant (I was sooo dumb back then - listened to what the doctor told me to do) that I am pretty sure must've had thimerosal in it, and I am sure his earlier vaccinations must've had some as well. I was considering giving him just a little Iodine supp. (like 1 drop of Lugol's every other day or something - he is 5 and a half now) because I use Sea Salt (which doesn't contain iodine), and he is such a picky eater also.
If anyone knows of another forum/link, etc. about this topic ( iodine for children/chelating mercury/where/how to find a dr. who specializes in this, etc.) please do tell.
Just to give more info. on my son's continual issues:
Poor muscle tone (low strength)
emotional instability at times
difficulty with motor planning/execution
sensory integration dysfunction
tires easily
Well, those are the big ones...
