by sparkling water I assume you mean carbonated water?

Carbonated water is water that has been impregnated with carbon dioxide, which is also an impurity and by-product of metabolism that your body is trying to eliminate, so why add something that the body is already trying to expel?
Doesn't make much sense really, does it?
