Like you stated it is different for everyone---but you are not alone.....
I have had irregular periods my entire life--started at 12 and am 46; heavy and lasting anywhere from 7 days to 2 months. I have tried everything, birth control pills, Depo-Provera to the point of an injection ever 4 weeks to get my periods to stop. I tried to opt for a hysterectomy and insurance denied it since I hadn't tried enough other options. The birth control pills made be a raving lunatic and the depo caused me to gain 40 pounds in 2 years with depression.
The first thing i would recommend doing is contacting your doctor. There are also detailed pharmaceutical papers on Mirena you should read. Jus search the Internet and you should be able to find these-if not feel free to contact med directly and i will send them to you. From what I have read this is not a device for women with irregular cycles.

I was told Mirena might be the solution. In October I had it inserted and for the next 6 months had to wear a pad 24/7. Mine was also constant for a while, then stopped and from then on I never knew what it was coming or how heavy it was. 5 weeks ago I began having lightheadedness and dizziness to the point of being hospitalized. I've had all the recommended tests done to rule out heart, ear, and tumors of the brain. I am taking Valium 3 times a day to allow me to function during the day.
After reading posts on this site I encountered others with my same symptoms. And have now had the device removed. I’m waiting to see if the device is the cause, but removal of it at least rules something else out if not.

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. You know it better than any doctor. What you are experiencing needs to be told to your doctor. I find OBGYN's to listen LESS than specialist about the side effects of Mirena.

Again--listen to your body and talk to your doctor.
