Plase look at my flickr page (address in my previous post), to see my latest headshots.

I have many scars (including old scars, from this problem), so my head is never going to look normal. If I had shaved my head 3-6 months earlier, I would probably have had a third of these scars.

So I definitely advise people to shave early on, as soon as you realise that medicine is not going to control this bacteria. It is essential to reduce scarring.

But.. for the first time today, I think I'm completely (on the skin surface) infection free. I have no painful lumps/spots, nothing new starting, recent spots have scabbed over, and I've not shaved my head for 2 days (to give the skin a break, and to try to give final scabs a chance to heal properly without getting cut-up whilst shaving).

I have discovered manuka oil from New Zealand, which although super-smelly, seems to be aiding the process very well. I've only been using it for a week, but it has been very effective up to now.

I had one particular spot that wouldn't clear for 3-4 weeks. Within 4 days of applying this oil, it was dead.

I'll see how it goes with the oil, as these things sometimes work miracles for a week or two, then cease to have any affect.

It's been a long 3 weeks to here, since first shaving my head, and there are good days and bad days (when you think it's getting worse again), but the overall picture is great.

Guys....don't mess up like I did, and wait until the infection becomes unbearable before shaving, do it now, and give your scalp a chance to stay looking good.
