Shroom,

1) Marshall protocol explicitly does not use beta lactam. Low-dose, pulsed bacteriostatic Antibiotics only.

2) Up-regulation of the VDR is critical to the protocol. The VDR transcribes genes that lead to production of the Beta-Defensins. The Beta-Defensins are nasty AMP's that play a major role throughout the digestive tract, namely the small intestine.
