I think that the answer lies in this excerpt from Spirit's "welcome" email message and instruction after I belatedly took him up on his offer to become a forum moderator - when I felt that I might deserve the privilege and be ready for the responsibility (and YES, I do look on it as both a privilege and a responsibility):

You should:

Create a new username, one that will identify you as a forum owner.

If your forum is called  Ask Tony Isaacs,  then your username should be   "Tony Isaacs"  or  "Tony"  or  "Ask Tony Isaacs" 

Your username will not have privileges to post messages in debate forums.  CureZone experts are not allowed to enter debate forums.

If you remove your photo from Dquixote1217   username ....  that username could still keep all privileges.

You will have Local Moderator privileges on your forum, and anybody else you want.

In light of the recent controversy about one particular forum owner, I think that the following excerpt from Spirit is also instructive:

How to protect yourself from loosing a good name?

2. Language

Posting extremely foul or abusive language aimed at a fellow forum member is forbidden. This includes obscenities, verbal harassment or comments that would prove offensive based on race, religion, sex, age, opinions or sexual orientation, lifestyle orientation, diet orientation.
Never be rude!  Never.  It is an easy way toward losing respect from majority.

Follow the CureZone Guidelines, and the CureZone Terms of Service:

You agree to not use the Service to:

"stalk" or otherwise harass CureZone members

"annoy", "irritate" or otherwise harass CureZone members

harm minors in any way;
