Hi,
I had my Mirena for 4 years and had it out 4 1/2 months ago. I have had every horrible side effect under the sun EXCEPT for weight gain and hair loss. I have had the gamet of neurological symptoms (tingling, numbness, vision disturbances, balance disturbances)etc. The list goes on. It always gets worse right before my period. I also rarely have a day where I feel like myself. With the Mirena in, I had horrible anxiety and panic attacks in the middle of nowhere, heart palpitations, mood swings, etc.
I had a saliva hormone test last month. It took a month to complete and the end results showed that I was Estrogen dominant in the second half of my cycle. As the estrogen is supposed to diminish after ovulation, mine kept rising. I am now going to take a plant Progesterone to balance out the Estrogen. It is going to take about 3-4 months to start working, and then I will retest again. As to why I am Estrogen dominant? Not sure, but could be an effect of the Mirena post removal.
I don't have the anxiety or heart palpitations anymore. That stopped within one month of the Mirena coming out.
I have acupuncture once a week to help alleviate the symptoms. It has been the best thing I have ever done.
